obc Children's Ministry

We care about your children

Your children are important to God and they are important to Oakdale Baptist Church. It is our prayer that they will come to know Christ as their personal Savior and grow in grace and truth as a young believer. All events and activities for children are planned with this in mind. We also want them to know that church is a joyful, fun, loving, caring, and safe place. At OBC, we want to introduce children to Jesus, let them know that He loves them and wants to be the Savior and Lord of their life.

“Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who are like these children.”
- Matthew 19:14

WHAT TO EXPECT

When you arrive at the OBC campus, greeters are available to guide you to our Children’s Ministry check-in area. First time families are asked to fill out some information that will allow us to include you in our secure drop off process. From there, your child will meet one of our incredible leaders who will show them to their classroom! But don’t worry - if a child is hesitant or nervous about a new and unfamiliar environment, parents are welcome to accompany the child to their classroom as well! Every classroom has at least two adult leaders who have completed our volunteer orientation, interview, comprehensive background check, and training process. In the event we need to contact you during the service, we will text the phone number provided at check-in.

Nursery is provided during all worship services, Community Groups, and Wednesday night activities.

During OBC Worship on Sunday mornings, kids experience their own worship time with prayer and Bible study on THEIR level! The lesson and ministry time builds on the theme that is introduced during the Sunday School time. Children's Worship is for Pre-K through 4th grade - 5th graders worship with their parents in the Worship Center.

Our Classrooms

Infants & Toddlers

Birth to Age 4

Our goal with this stage is to establish trust by meeting needs consistently — diaper changes, feedings, or extra snuggles after a tough drop-off — and to provide opportunities for singing, bubble popping, and age-appropriate toys and textures.

Pre-K to Kindergarten

We create a space for your child to experience Jesus through an engaging curriculum, caring and consistent leaders, and movement. Our program gives them space to color, play, dance, and even be a part of teaching the Bible story!

Grades 1-5

At this stage, we make a space for kids to solve problems, think deeply, and process their thoughts and questions. We also want them to know that church is a fun and safe place to explore their faith, make friends, and feel encouraged by leaders.
